Canada's Blue Jays Earn World Series Meeting With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer contributed to the Astros winning the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their maiden championship series since 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the ALCS.

Down by two runs, the star outfielder delivered a three-run blast in the seventh inning, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 series win in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, holders of the reigning title, in the anticipated championship.

"I'm thrilled for this squad, Toronto, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "This is such an incredible feeling."

The veteran has now connected for 23 total post-season home runs, placing him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not anyone else on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that situation other than Springer with his playoff prowess," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the early in the series, are still the sole team never to appear in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it's going to sting" after his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but commended their efforts in the campaign.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we finished on the losing end of this game," he continued.

The Blue Jays claimed the championship on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the first game on this Friday.
