Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has passed away aged 24.
The Cowboys selected the Cowboys in the second round in 2024 and appeared in 18 games for the team, with four starting appearances.
He scored his first touchdown in the Tuesday game to the Arizona Cardinals when he recovered a blocked punt.
"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organisation," the Dallas Cowboys said.
"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his partner Catalina and his family."
Kneeland was selected by Dallas with the 56th overall pick of the 2024 draft after playing college football for Western Michigan.
His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart breaks" for the loss of the athlete who "poured his heart" into every moment.
"I watched him fight his way from a aspiring young man at Western Michigan with a goal to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley commented.
The NFL stated it is "deeply saddened" by the tragic event.
His sudden passing has created a gap in the NFL community, recalled as a committed player with a promising future.
