The British player advanced to round three in three Grand Slam tournaments major tournaments this year.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her final two events this season as a result of the illness she has been battling over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to regain her health before starting plans for the 2026 season.

Her upcoming training will involve trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.

The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match with Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Her movement was far from freely in the third set versus Zhu owing to back discomfort that has affected her at times this year.

Those results followed a positive campaign, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally for the first time in more than three years, concluded with three straight losses.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in Beijing last month.

She secured 28 victories this year and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.

Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed en route then falling in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled late this year.

Raducanu told that her three-day trial alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
