Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, Known For Roles in Seinfeld and The Middle, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.

Stateside performer Pat Finn, who featured in iconic television series such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.

The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California this Monday having undergone treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, per media reports.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his relatives said in a statement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Television Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the lead character's sibling.

He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He starred as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, playing a host who would assign unpleasant chores to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous well-known programs, including:

  • King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.

His film credits include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.

He was involved with a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.

Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
