Former Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities have stated that a former physician stands accused of performing assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.

The Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:

• Fifteen counts of assault.
• 17 counts of assault by penetration.
• 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
• Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
• One count of attempted penetrative assault.
