Recent details have emerged regarding the tragic passing of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their residence property on Sunday.
A source indicates quoting a person close to the family, a practitioner scheduled for an session initially became concerned after failing to get inside the residence. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the residence, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Afterward, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently in custody without bail.
The confidential informant questioned several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
Additionally disputed circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement applies to accounts of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.
Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
