Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for questions to be raised about his position following another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve matches, representing the team's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from the top,” the coach stated.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the trust. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a spell such as this with performances so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is taken away, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to the top, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
