Uche Ignites Comfortable Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Missing star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct entry to the last 16, particularly following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Moment

This match provided a chance for several Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season proved no match against a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
