Ukrainian Forces Initiates Mass Production of New Interceptor Drones

Ukraine has announced the start of mass production for an innovative domestically developed interceptor drone to strengthen its air defences. Three initial producers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven preparing to establish assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials announced on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Combat Situations

These UAVs will be based on a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Iranian-made drones. The system has been tested in combat and demonstrated effective “during nighttime, under jamming and flying low,” the ministry stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a target of producing up to 1,000 interceptors each day.

Russia intends to produce up to 120,000 glide bombs in the current year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official disclosed, including 500 of a new, longer-range version that can reach more towns and cities. Russian forces have been launching 200 to 250 aerial bombs daily, with the previous month's average daily usage standing at about 170, according to official military statistics.

Ukrainian Attacks Target Russian Energy Infrastructure

Moscow's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk halted for a period crude shipments on Friday – representing 2% of global supply – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Military commanders in Kyiv stated its forces had launched Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of strike drones in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to diminish the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”
